Back in 2014, researchers analyzed 87 films that featured dogs, and then correlated their findings with data from the AKC. It comes as no surprise that what they found is that movies can increase the popularity of the dog star’s breed for up to 10 years. The 1943 hit, Lassie Come Home, led to a 40% increase in Collie registrations with the parent club. It was probably because of scenes like this:
Warning: This is the part where we call on a sense of humor. We wonder. Would there have been a 40% increase in Collie registrations had the scene been more like the one below?
