This statue is situated in the oldest town in Baden-Wrttemberg, Rottweil which is also the birthplace of the Rottweiler Hund, or the dog we love and known as the Rottweiler. The life-size bronze by artist, Ottmar Hrl, sits outside the Rottweil Museum, but it was by no means the only tribute Hrl paid to the breed. In the mid 90s, he installed some 500 plastic casts of the Rottweiler on the grounds of the Erich Hauser Art Foundation’s Sculpture Park (you can purchase your own plastic version of the statue here). Five hundred Rotties. Can you ever really have too many?
