If you’re on-line, particularly if you’re on Facebook, chances are good that you’ve either seen or played the games, “Words With Friends,” “FarmVille,” “Hit it Rich,” or “Zynga Poker.” These games played by millions of people globally were developed by Zynga, a provider and developer of social video games headquartered in San Francisco. You’ve probably seen the company’s red logo dozens of time without really taking note of it:
The company name and logo was in honor of Zinga, the now deceased white American Bulldog who belonged to Zynga CEO, Mark Pincus. Terence Fung, Head of Corporate Development at Zynga, has described how the company dog mascot represents the brand, “We’re trying to create a dog-powered network – when you see the dog on Facebook or mobile, you equate it with fun. We’re working with independent developers to bring innovative things into our business.”
“Zinga’s” image graces the company’s headquarters, a nice tribute to a loved dog.
And now you know.
