At one time in England (according to “Dogs” by Desmond Morris), the Dachshund was known as the Beagle Terrier for reasons we can’t fathom. These days, it’s often called the Doxie, but we’ve been reminded (strenuously, in fact) that one would be well advised to spell that word as “Dachshie” since the dictionary tells us that a “Doxie” is slut, floozy, hussy, tramp, trollop, hoochie – well, you get the idea. So, dear friends, friends don’t let friends spell the “D” word the wrong way. Just saying.
