These remarkable eyes belong to an Australian Shepherd whose photo comes to us by courtesy of Lisa Kress-Pope‎. She is a red merle with heterochromia iridis, a medical term that sounds a lot friendlier when it’s referred to by its more common name: Marbled eyes (or split eyes). Both terms describe eyes in which the irises contain two or more colors. By any name, these eyes aren’t just acceptable in the breed standard, they’re mesmerizingly beautiful.
