Artist’s Thoughts: I wanted to capture the sweetness and gentleness of Apollo in this portrait, especially in the face and eyes. I begin my paintings in black and white, and slowly add layers of color until I achieve the desired effect. The process takes many weeks and as many as 10 very thin layers of paint.

I behold light and its various nuances, and to these I add color until the subject is born. It is my desire to share my visions with those who recognize and appreciate art and for them to be inspired to create. For me, painting is life, and when I roll my chair away from a completed piece to absorb its beauty, I know I have a lifelong purpose to bring color to the world through art.
