Artist’s Thoughts: I wanted to create a striking image that not only draws the eye with beautiful dogs and bold color but represents each purebred AKC group. I feel that my composition would work well in a poster format, showcasing a dog from each recognized group in a realistic yet playful manner that portrays each breed in a strong, positive, and “true-to-life” portrait. Although my normal body of paintings consists of wildlife/birds, landscapes, botanicals – really anything nature – I’ve done many dog portraits as well and always enjoy putting into paint the lovely faces and personalities of our beloved canine friends! My current furry family member Milo is represented in the Herding Group, being a purebred Collie.
