How many nicknames are too many for one breed to have?
We ask because the Bull Terrier has more than its fair share! Class Clown, Gentleman’s Companion, Vark Hond, Wedge Head, Kid in a Dog Suit, and Pig-Dog are just some of the names that have been given to the Bull Terrier, but because the breed should give the impression of being an athlete (if not a prizefighter), it’s also known as the “‘gladiator of the canine race.” We, however, tilt towards the nickname that sums up the breed’s character: Tough, courageous, athletic, powerful, and imbued with a sense of fair play – never initiating controversy, but not backing down once provoked. These qualities earned the white Bull Terrier the nickname, “The White Cavalier.”
Actually, NPDD has one more nickname: Lovable.
