A Wondrous Llewellin Setter

“Jim the Wonder Dog” was the canine enigma of the 20th century, his amazing feats having astounded people for most of the Llewellin Setter’s 12 years of life.

Born in 1925, Jim was alleged to have a variety of remarkable abilities. Although he was a top hunting dog in the entire United States, Jim reportedly could also predict the sex of unborn babies, and answer instructions given in several languages even though Jim’s owner only spoke English. He picked the winner of the Kentucky Derby seven years in a row, as well as the Yankee’s victory in the 1936 World Series. Many theories about Jim’s ability have been circulated over the years ranging from satanic possession to the reincarnation of King Solomon.

Jim died March 18, 1937, but the AKC recognized his place in canine history by devoting a display to him in the American Kennel Club Museum in St. Louis. You can read more about Jim here.
