Cartoonist Alex Graham whose charater Fred Basset became a national institution died yesterday aged 74.
for more than quarter of a century he has entertained readers in the Daily Mail and 20 countries around the world. his canine character has starred in more than 8,750 tales and there have been books, annuals and appearances in hundreds of publications.
Fred who combines a dry wit with an ofter handdog expression even has his own fan club.
