Artist’s Thoughts:  I wanted to represent all the breeds requested, in a way that invited people to contemplate the breeds’ nature and significance. I chose a contemplative path, the labyrinth or maze of the world, for the viewer to walk through and experience the beauty and integrity of these dogs. I also used mixed media, primarily watercolor, pencil and pastel, to create an “illustrator quality” series of images that would hopefully appeal to younger people. I do think that, thematically and visually, I’ve gone above and beyond what the contest requests.
