Not all the purebred dogs that have lived in the White House have gotten as much notice over the years as Bo, Barney, Millie, and Laddie Boy. One of them certainly warranted attention for size alone, a magnificent Irish Wolfhound named “Cragwood Padraic,” a great-great-grandson of Cragwood Darragh, then the most famous Irish wolfhound ever bred in the United States. The dog was gifted to the Herbert Hoovers by the Wolfhound’s breeder, a former schoolmate of Mrs.Hoover’s, Mrs. Norwood Browning Smith (seen here with the dog the Hoovers would name “Patrick”). He was registered with the #AKC by Mrs. Hoover and his number was 665,207.
