Are You a Dog Book Geek?

We are surrounded by books. Lots and lots of books. A great many of them are “dog books,” an ever expanding collection that we are growing at an alarming rate, allegedly to aid our research as we wrote posts for National Purebred Dog Day. But mostly, we love dogs and we love books, and there it is.

We aren’t alone. We know many of you are dog book geeks too, and when we came a website that focuses on antiquarian, rare and out-of-print dog books, dog art, dog paintings and prints, dog magazines and more, we thought you’d like to check it out for yourself. The web site owner writes that after nearly 40 years of collecting, they’ve amassed one of the largest private collections of dog books and paraphernalia in the world which they’re selling on their Ebay store as retirement approaches.  We honor their dedication, but share the opinion that if you find a book that interests you, shop around the Internet to gauge prices.  A good place to start before you hit Amazon is BetterWorldBooks which not only has a wonderful literacy program supported by purchases, but also seems to offer some “oldies but goodies,” if you know the book title. Valore Books also offers some economical finds, but if you want to compare prices, check out FindBookPrices or simply do a Google search on “discounted (name of the book) and see what comes up.   Happy hunting!

  1. Do I qualify? When Pat Trotter wins it all tonight, do you think my first edition Born to Win will become even more valuable? What’s inside is pure gold.
