Few of us aren’t familiar with the iconic house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1935 known as the “Fallingwater House.” Built partly over a waterfall in the Allegheny Mountains of Pennsylvania, the house was designed as a weekend home for the Kaufmann family (of Kaufmann’s Department store fame). Not as well known is that the wife of Edgar Kaufmann, Liliane, bred and showed raised long-haired Dachshunds. In fact, the house, now open to the public, has a bookstore from which visitors can purchase a book entitled, “Moxie, The Dachshund of Fallingwater.” “Moxie,” the main character, was inspired by dogs that Liliane Kaufmann had in the 1930s and ’40s. The story shares a view of the house as seen through the eyes of a talking Dachshie.

How cool! I’ve been to Fallingwater twice…including with Pinch at 14 weeks…and never was aware of this.
Chuckle, we live for these kinds of trivia, Pam, and envy you for having been to this remarkable house.
