Artist’s Thoughts: Form follows function, Basset Hounds originally bred to hunt rabbits and small game, short legs and long ears ruffling the scent on the ground. In my painting the old wall mural depicts three Bassets on the hunt, the front dog about to alert the hunter across the field. On the sidewalk in front of the mural, a modern Basset. Acrylic painting on watercolor paper.

Beautiful. Nothing like a group of basset hounds going on a walk together.
That is so true, Mary Ann! The entry does a lovely job of it!
What a wonderful piece of Art! I can see that the modern basset hound is wishing he could join in the hunt!!
Pam Tanzey captures the Basset hound doing what it does best. The nose, ears and shape all contribute to what many of us love about the breed. Function follows form is a great title for this piece.
Pam’s eye for detail and expression is amazing.
Agreed, Marci! This year, the competition was tough because of work like Pam Tanzey’s!
Beautiful ♥️♥️♥️♥️!
