Artist’s Thoughts:   Last year, when the kids started school, I changed how I refer to myself, from being homemaker to that of an artist. I am an artist. It’s always been there, but being a mom and homemaker has been my job for 13 years. I have so much packed up, and I am finally able to free it. It’s good for my kids to see me produce art, and make art in my studio with me. My journey is just starting, and I am 43 years old. I love detail, but also the medium I use.

When I start a drawing or painting, I first do a sketch in my notebook or iPad of the drawing I am going to do. I then begin with the eyes, connecting with the piece, then I block in colors. Details are then added. I hang my art in my studio. I love the way our dogs have looked at us, with so much pure love, and I want to evoke that feeling when a viewer sees my work.
