To our knowledge, it’s the only AKC breed standard that calls for “kind eyes,” and few of us will be surprised to learn the breed this describes:
From the Labrador Retriever standard: The most distinguishing characteristics of the Labrador Retriever are its short, dense, weather resistant coat; an “otter” tail; a clean-cut head with broad back skull and moderate stop; powerful jaws; and its “kind” friendly eyes, expressing character, intelligence and good temperament.
Honestly now, aren’t those sweet eyes the first things we notice on a Lab? If you have a Labrador Retriever at home, please share your “kind eyed” Lab!
Yellow Labrador Retriever by Debbie Anderson. This print is available here.
Yes! I call them “cow eyes”. They are what draw me to them. I have had labs all my life and the eyes have it.
It is oftentimes difficult to see the eyes on a black lab, but this is my favorite picture of my girl Violet. Gone a year and a half ago and still missed. I have always been drawn to those “cow eyes” as I call them.
When we first got our puppy
We’ll hold you to it, Jeanetta!!
Hmm should be attached. Says it is?
Don’t see anything, Jeanetta – darn it!
It’s hard to get a picture of his eyes… as he’s always moving. Steve 3 mths
Because of I love my dogs’ eyes more than anything, I am going to try again to post a picture of one or both of my girls with the most beautiful eyes. It is the eyes that make me keep coming back to my labs.
