The first introduction many people had to the Berger Picard was through the movie, “Because of Winn-Dixie.” The producers of that 2005 American made film brought five Picards over from Europe (“Scott”, “Laiko” and “Tasha” performed in the movie) not only because the trainer wanted a dog that resembled the scruffy mutt on the original book’s cover, but because he needed several dogs that looked alike so that production could continue smoothly. It’s called “predictability,” a hallmark of purebred dogs.
