When Mark Lucero – engineer, new business developer, and investment broker, turned his interest to developing an American rum with a Caribbean taste profile, it was quick work to name the new rum (click on “Watch on YouTube”):
Pug Dog Rum is a homage to “Bongo,” the beloved fawn colored Pug Mark once owned.
Immortalized with pen and ink by Andrii Stoliarevskyi, Bongo’s image (see below) graces the very handsome label of a rum distinguished with hints of allspice, clove, nutmeg, vanilla, and orange spices. The combination creates a warm and aromatic flavor that emphasizes traditional baking spices alongside a citrusy twist.
Pug Dog Rum was introduced in 2020 by Vodka Brands Corp in May 2020, the company’s first foray into brown spirits. Dog fanciers can appreciate competition, so it’s noteworthy that the prestigious Ultimate Spirits Challenge organization awarded Pug Dog Spiced Rum a “Strong Recommendation.”
