Do you Volpino?
The verb we just made up refers to what some call the Italian equivalent to the German Pomeranian. Make no mistake: The Volpino is an old breed, and some postulate that it predates the Pomeranian, though we’ve not yet found evidence supporting that idea. That said, we know that it was a favorite among Renaissance women who liked adorning these dogs with fancy ivory bracelets and collars. The nobility’s enchantment with the Volpino lasted centuries, and the fact that the breed was known as the “Quirinal Dog” in the 1800s bears this out (The Quirinal was the Royal Palace in Rome, now the presidential palace).
