Artist’s Thoughts:  I wanted to convey the rich history of the purebred dog. I made the composition to tell a story. Books which include the breed of each dog painted in the poster and to show there are so many more by having 2 larger books Vol I and II. I chose Rare Old Friends to represent a connection to all the breeds that are vanishing. I wanted to paint breeds that are not as well known to people, but all having a distinctive look.
