If you don’t have a favorite Elton John song, either as performed by the man himself, or by someone else, check your music pulse. Just saying – but did you know that Sir Elton has been an inveterate owner of purebred dogs?
In his life (and as far as we know), Elton John has owned over twenty purebred dogs, including nine or ten Border Terriers, a Labrador Retriever, and an Irish Wolfhound. One dog stands out, however, because when Elton John had a civil partnership ceremony with long time partner, David Furnish, in 2005, he has as his best man, “Arthur,” the couple’s Cocker Spaniel. The following year, Arthur was credited on Sir Elton’s album, The Captain and the Kid, for having provided “woof-bells.”
Arthur, however, gets around. The dog lent his star power to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation party in 2009, and also to the United Kingdom’s People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals which cares for sick and injured animals. Arthur and Elton were featured in the fundraising calendar, “Pet Pawtraits.”
