The Shih-Tzu‘s AKC standard doesn’t include this term as the FCI standard does, but we kind of like it: “Shock-headed.” It refers to a hair pattern on the head of the breed, a description that comes from a “shock,” as in a coarse, tangled mass of hair. Hair growing upwards gives the head and muzzle a ‘chrysanthemum-like’ effect that makes an endearing breed all the more appealing.
