National Purebred Dog Day Official Poster for 2025
$35.00
“Play Date” by Kate Quinn the winner of National Purebred Dog Day’s ninth Annual Fine Art/Poster competition, and is now its official 2025 poster.
The watercolor was chosen by our juror, Mr. Dan Sayers, in a contest of highly imaginative entries. Mr. Sayer shared his thoughts about his winning image: Playful as a litter of puppies, “Play Date” by Kate Quinn is a joyful expression of the contemporary world of purebred dogs. Faithfully illustrated, the dogs depicted are engaged in activities that speak to conformation, performance, and companionship. The muted palette contrasts nicely with the intensity shown on the face of each dog, and the overall energy that’s conveyed encourages viewers to pursue an active lifestyle with their own dogs. All in all, this work is a dynamic celebration of the diversity that’s represented by the purebred dog.”
Of her piece, Ms. Quinn wrote: “When I saw that there was a poster contest in connection with dogs I became very excited about the possibilities. I have always been surrounded by furry friends, and I recently became a dog mom to a precious English Springer Spaniel puppy, so I started researching the different breeds to get my creative juices flowing. I wrote lists of the dogs in each group that caught my interest. Some were familiar, and some were from breeds I wanted to get to know better. I wanted a mix of small, medium and large dogs, as well as dogs with different textures and colors. All nine AKC groups are included: Working-Doberman, Hounds-Bassett and Basenji, Sporting-English Springer Spaniel, Terrier-Irish Terrier, Toy-Pomeranian, Non-Sporting-Boston Terrier, Herding-Border Collie, Miscellaneous-Japanese Akitainu, and the FSS-American Bulldog. I began to place them in a fun, engaging format with toys and agility equipment, and a dog ‘playdate’ emerged.”
Your poster will be sent rolled and encased in plastic wrap and shipped in a white wax tube.
