Artist’s Thoughts: I painted this portrait after my friend’s beloved Rough Collie passed to immortalize her. I didn’t take into consideration how to get all of the fine white hair detail over the black after I had laid in the basics. I had to use white graphite over the acrylic paint to recreate the detail. She had a crooked stripe of white down her nose, that her mom recognized immediately. When I saw this competition, I thought her black and white portrait could be used on a poster as a gray scaled, transparent backdrop for a poster with bold type and colors. That would immortalize her precious grace. – a spiritual Sierra.
