“Sykes” was a stray found in Oxfordshire in 2004 by stunt dog trainer, Gill Raddings, who also trained and lived with “Kyte,” the Belgian Shepherd from EastEnders.  Accounts vary as to Sykes’ breed, but most sources described him as a Parson Russell Terrier.  Sykes has had a fine film career which included Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Clash of Titans, Sweeney Todd, The Other Boleyn Girl, Young Victoria, The Dutchess, and The Wolfman.  He also became a regular on the popular British series, Midsomer Murders. His most memorable spot, however, was probably his appearance in a John Smith’s Brewery commercial which you can see below.  The ad was named by Campaignlive as one of the Top Ten Best Dog Ads.  Since 2016,  Sykes has been in semi-retirement.
