There are times when driving our dogs to a destination isn't feasible, and at those times, we rely on the airlines. Some of you who have flown with your dogs, however, have encountered this scenario:
You're on your way to the airline facility to send your dog and your stomach is churning as you hope and pray that the airline employee won't tell you your dog is in the wrong sized crate and can't go when you know it's the best crate size for your dog.
The airline employee is also worried that they may have to tell you they don't think your dog and its crate is the right match and they also risk losing their job if they don't uphold their interpretation of company policy. This happens every day, and it's the Number One "challenge" that the airlines face when flying dogs.
Casa Fairview Canines, a professional dog shipping company specializing in helping purebred dogs and preservation breeders (a member of IPATA and a long-time friend and supporter of National Purebred Dog Day) is developing a tool to help standardize the appropriate crate sizes in which all breeds currently recognized by the AKC should travel in (including Miscellaneous breeds).
