A tirelessly wagging tail and a capacity to enjoy life to the to fullest (especially if there’s something in it for her) has lead to the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen being nicknamed The Happy Breed.  One of over two dozen French breeds, the PBGV is the smallest of the four related breeds from the Pays-de-la-Loire region in west-central France, but she’s not related to the Basset Hound at all; “basset” simply refers to the breed’s low-to-the-ground stature.
