We Say Goodbye to a Coton de Tulear named “Baby Hope Diamond”

The “bride” at the world’s most expensive pet wedding in history was a Coton de Tulear named “Baby Hope Diamond,” something that put her in the Guinness World Records. The ceremony attended by 250 guests and 50 dogs was officiated by Triumph the Insult Comic Dog (a puppet) who, at the right moment, said, “I now pronounce you dog and bitch!” (the groom, a Poodle named “Chilly Pasternak”).  After the nuptials, guests enjoyed a five-tiered cake with created by Carlo’s Bakery (aka the bakery on TLC’s Cake Boss).

We’re not fans of dog weddings, but the 2012 wedding that cost over $158,000 in donated luxury goods did raise over $110,000 for a critical care ward at the Humane Society of New York. Sadly, we’re reporting that Baby Hope died on May 9th after a nine month battle with congestive heart failure.

For anyone who is wondering, the record that Baby Hope broke was previously held by two cats in Thailand who had a $16,241 wedding.

Without permission to share the photo of the happy couple (which you can see here), we use a photo of Emilio, a male Coton de Tuléar, from Wikicommons
