Do You Pick the Scottie? What Your Monopoly Piece Says about You

Horrors!
What was the world coming to when Monopoly announced that it was ditching one of its iconic tokens, the thimble? The beloved thimble has been part of the game since it was launched in 1935, and remained in the 1937 version of the game, the first to have metal tokens instead of wood.
When Monopoly powers-that-be asked the public in January, 2017 to vote to save their favorite piece from a planned cull, the thimble got the least amount of votes from a campaign that attracted more than four million votes. The wheelbarrow and the boot also got, well, the boot.  The thimble lost out to the top hat, the motor car, the recently introduced cat (which replaced the iron in 2013) and – hallelujah,  the Scottish Terrier, one of the six original tokens in the game.
The Scottie was added in the 1950s, and in the vote that saw the iron ousted, the Scottie got the most votes to be kept  (29%, to be precise). The Scottie, in fact, is preferred by one out of five Monopoly players. It’s said that people who choose the Scottie token when playing Monopoly tend to be more female than male. They consider themselves trustworthy, loyal, and keen to play. They are mentally agile and passionate about winning. Dog players regard themselves as mild risk takers and careful in their strategy. They take more time counting their money.
