Put Your Lips Together and Blow

We know of people (Millennials, if truth be known) who won’t watch a movie if it’s black and white. Some of these folks believe that a movie that old can’t be relevant to today’s mores.  Show of hands: Who among us who saw “To Have and Have Not, got shivers up their spine when Lauren Bacall asked Humphrey Bogart, “You know how to whistle, don’t you, Steve? You just put your lips together, and blow.” Bacall leaves the scene, and it feels like she took the oxygen with her:

Okay, maybe it is a bit corny today, but we think the world today could use a little corny.

The two people in that scene, Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart, weren’t pretending to be smoldering, Theirs was a famous love affair that ended in a happy marriage. They shared a mutual love of dogs (Bogart had owned a Newfoundland, a couple of Sealyhams and Scottish Terriers), but as a couple, they loved Boxers. The picture seen here is of Bogart with one of his Scotties.
