Artist’s Thoughts:  One of my favorite things as an artists is the power to do pet portraits. Over the years, I have done a number of them featuring my own adorable Shih Tzus. I regularly photograph them, often for reference purposes but also have the benefit of working from life. The portrait, “All in the Family” came together from both.

I am a lover of all animals and a great fan of dogs and of the shih-tzu breed! Our shih-tzu family started in 2010 with the arrival of brother and sister team Oreo and Daisy. The have been a source of great joy to us over the years. In 2013, Daisy had a litter and in 2015, her first pup Padme had a litter as well. The pups were adopted by beautiful families who also appreciate the friendship, love and joy of this special breed. They are adorable, with sweet faces and unique, fun personalities. They are good hearted, loyal companions. It was an interesting challenge to get the group together for the reference photos used to help create this family portrait. I had the benefit, of course, of having them in person as well!
