Much of the Azawakh’s unique physical build is form following function: A deep chest, long legs, tiny tuck-up and relative low body fat all work towards this sighthound being able to catch its prey efficiently.  There’s one more aspect of the Azawakh that is an elegant adaptation to its environment of the Azawakh Valley in the Sahara desert where he originated, and that is his height. Being so tall relative to a shorter body serves to dissipate heat. The idea is to put a bit of distance between organs and the source of heat.
