The Best Remembered British Ad For Tobacco

We honestly don’t get it, but if it uses a purebred dog in a positive light, we’re good with it. So, someone explain to us what lighting up a cigar has to do with running out of toilet paper? #commando

The ad that turned out to be one of the best remembered British advertising campaigns for a tobacco product was a long-running campaign for Hamlet Cigars. In fact, the commercial was listed as the eighth greatest television advertisement of all time by British television station, Channel 4,  in 2000 . B  The honeymoon ended when all tobacco advertising on television was banned in the UK in 1991, much like it was in the US.  Research tells us that the ads returned in cinemas in 1996, and kept airing until 1999. The final commercial came with a modified Tagline, “Happiness will always be a cigar called Hamlet.”
