Border Collie to the Rescue

You can’t overstate the importance of a good sheepdog, or in this case, a sheep-rescue-dog. In the video clip below posted on Twitter by The Campaign for Wool, you’ll marvel that this lamb was found!

All in a day’s work, right?

It isn’t the first time a Border Collie came to the rescue. In 2015, Felipe Germán, a shepherd from Goñi, Uruguay discovered that one of his pregnant ewes had delivered twin lambs, and sadly, one of them had died shortly after birth. As it was unusually cold that morning, Germán picked up the other lamb and brought it inside his home to keep warm next to his wooden stove. Cold and stiff, the lamb’s prospects looked dim. As the lamb lay near the heat of the wooden stove, “Dino,” Germán’s two-year-old Border Collie approached the cold and lifeless baby and immediately started licking the newborn, stimulating blood flow and helping it come back to life.

A few hours later, the lamb was  strong enough to nurse from his mum, and soon after, was scampering after her. Felipe said that both he and Dino fell for the lamb, and there were no plans to sell the miracle baby. The lamb, he said, would die from old age after enjoying a wonderful life next to the him and his dog.
