CJ: A Best in Show Winner Whose Breed Can Do It All

German Shorthaired Pointer owners likely rejoiced when “CJ” won Best in Show at Westminster Tuesday night. The award was also a “win” for all conscientious Preservation Breeders: CJ’s grandmother, “Carlee,” won Best in Show at Westminster in 2005 (she nailed the “stack heard around the world”) which suggests that the predictability of good breeding and purebred dogs is not an accident. During the press conference immediately following Best in Show, CJ’s co-owner, breeder, and handler, Valerie Nunes-Atkinson, commented that the German Shorthaired Pointer can do it all: Show dog, field dog, hunting partner and more, and we applaud her for having made some important points to the press at this time. GSP owners, be proud! A fine representative of your breed is “America’s Dog” for the next twelve months. If you have a GSP, show us your own best in show dog!
