Coat of White Satin, Body of Steel, and Heart of Gold

The Dogo Argentino is known for its tracking abilities, and despite what some may see as a ferocious appearance, the breed developed by Antonio and Augustin Nores-Martinez has a sound mind and body with a stable temperament. The Dogo was created to be a big game hunter in the 1920s, but the breeders were able to blend the best qualities of the Boxer, Great Dane, Great Pyrenees, Pointer, Irish Wolfhound, Dogue de Bordeaux, Bulldog, Spanish Mastiff, Bull Terrier, and the now-extinct Fighting Dog of Cordoba to create a versatile dog that will guard when necessary, but under most circumstances, is an outgoing, friendly dog that adores children. Little wonder that the Dogo been described as the dog with the “Coat of Satin, Body of Steel, and Heart of Gold.”
