Artist’s Thoughts: I have owned all kinds of dogs my whole life, but just recently I acquired a Bulldog puppy. I have never experienced a dog like the Bulldog; they are almost human/child like and their personalities are unlike any other dog I have owned. I’ve wanted to capture my Bulldog, Edgar, in all of his different characteristics, and what inspired this painting was finding him one day sitting in the sun, looking out the window and in a contemplative mood. It struck me as interesting, comical, and meditative all at the same time. I couldn’t wait to try to capture Edgar’s essence with this painting, and I feel I definitely accomplished his whimsical yet very mellow nature.
