The Dapple Dachshund

If you have a dapple patterned Dachshund, it’s possible that the pattern is across your dog’s face, and that one or both eyes may have blue speckles or may be entirely blue. A Dachsie considered a dapple even if it has even one tiny dappled patch on it. Sometimes, a dappled patch on a Dachshund is only noticeable when the dog is a puppy, and usually on the pup’s ears or belly, Often, the pattern  fades away with age.

Did you know that one Dachshund parent must have the dapple pattern in order to produce a dapple Dachshund puppy, or that two solid, self-colored Dachshunds cannot produce a dapple, or that when two dapple Dachshunds are bred together, they may produce a double dapple puppy?

Dapple. It’s not that simple. But if you own one, we’d love to see their pictures below!
