The Debut of the Budweiser Dalmatian

In commemoration of the opening of the Newark Brewery, a Dalmatian was introduced as the Budweiser Clydesdales’ mascot on March 30, 1950. Today, an obedience-trained Dalmatian travels with each of the Clydesdale hitches, their names: Chip, Clyde, and Brewer. When the team performs today, the Dalmatians sit next to the driver on Studebaker wagons modified to carry beer, originally manufactured circa 1900.
