Artist’s Thoughts: I wanted to show what I have observed of the characteristics of the dogs that I have known and how they relate to behavior long ago bred in for utility. These instincts are still there but not often witnessed. How many Afghan hounds really get to be among a herd of goats? It is so amazing to me that these instincts are so hard wired and also so varied in different breeds. It is very funny to see how different dog breeds perceive the rules of how to play ball. There is definitely not one set of rules. So I did a little tongue and cheek play on the breed categories and what those breeds might be doing today.

Hounding goats? This makes no sense. An Afghan hound hunting gazelle would be more correct.
We suspect the artist was purposefully mixing metaphors?
