Eric Clapton’s “Jeep”

Eric Clapton’s Weimaraner, “Jeep,” is seen here looking mournful on the cover of his 1975 album, There’s One in Every Crowd. “Jeep” was Clapton’s first dog since childhood.  George Harrison even wrote a song about “Jeep” on his album,  All Things Must Pass. It was the only song on which Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker, formerly of the bands Cream and Blind Faith, both appeared. As an aside, it’s said that at the time the song was recorded, Clapton was falling in love with Harrison’s wife Pattie. Clapton later wrote the hit song, “Layla,” which was about his unrequited love for her.

Ahhhh, the Rock and Roll world. Clapton, a rocker if ever there was one, recounts that at his Hurtwood country estate, the guitarist let Jeep and his other dog, a Golden Retriever named, Sunshine, both “crap in the house because we were too stoned to clear it up.”  Right.
