Not many dogs bred to face leopards and baboons also make good therapy dogs, but the Boerboel is. Noted for their protective instincts, it’s noteworthy that Boerboels (an Afrikaans word meaning farmer’s dog) haven’t developed aggression and destructive behavior. They are, in fact, are gentle, affectionate and playful. Boerboels, it’s written, are regarded by many experts to be the only breed developed to be guard dogs without being aggressive. That said, this breed is probably not a good choice for inexperienced dog owners.
