The Chinese zodiac has twelve animals that made up its 12-year cycle related to the Chinese calendar. In order, the animals are the Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. If you were born in 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, or 2006 (or if you’re planning ahead for 2018), you were born in the Year of the Dog which is associated with the Earthly Branch symbol 戌. We make no judgements on astrology other than that it’s taken quite seriously by many cultures, and we have to admit that it can be uncannily accurate at times.
Does that apply to dogs, as well?
There is astrology for dogs, from Jean Dixon’s Horoscope for Dogs, to on-line sites that describe your dog based on his or her zodiac sign.
How about astrology by breed? We’re tempted chirp, “There’s an app for that!”, but will share instead that it’s been done. Last year, MSN put together a list of dog breeds that best fit zodiac signs, as did More.com. Those of us with rarer breeds shouldn’t bother looking, but it’s still entertaining. Let us know if you think it’s accurate?
