Artist’s Thoughts:  This is a basset hound of a friend, who like many Basset Hounds I know, is very laid back. He lives on a ranch and I thought he reminded me of a typical cattle dog even though he prefers to watch, rather than participate in cattle rounds ups! I chose to paint him at his home on the ranch in the mid west. My favorite medium is oil because the colors are rich and can capture the true essence of the scene you are trying to capture in painting.
