Hunting the Clean Boot

NPDD readers know our fondness for terms and expressions unique to our breed, and if you can share any with us, we’ll research it and craft a post around it. That said, “Hunting the Clean Boot” is a term that’s been used in Britain to refer to the use of Bloodhounds to follow natural human scent. The ‘clean boot’ refers to the absence of either an artificial scent such as aniseed (used in drag hunting and more recently trail hunting, adopted by some established foxhound packs in England and Wales) or the scent of a live quarry. And know you know.
