Instagram’s Most Hashtagged breed

Like it or not, social media is here to stay, and for a lot of observers, it serves as a barometer of where we are as individuals, businesses, and especially as a culture when one considers trends.  Analytics show that two months into 2019,  Facebook still rules the social media roost with 2.23 billion MAUs, or monthly active users. Coming in with 1.9 billion monthly users, You Tube is the next most powerful platform out there, and Instagram is gaining steam with 1 billion users every month.

If you as a breeder, fancier, or board member of a breed/all breed club don’t have a presence on Instagram or You Tube, you are missing an opportunity to celebrate your breed and impart your message: Share pictures from a fun match, post videos of a junior handler ring, or capture the first few minutes that someone is meeting your breed for the first time. Honestly, the only limitations to what you can do with these free options is your own imagination.

But we digress.

There’s always someone “number crunching,” and we thought you might find it interesting that according to British shopping site, MyVoucherCodes, the most hash-tagged breed on Instagram has been determined.

What breed do you suppose it is?

The big reveal: It’s the French Bulldogs with over 39.2 million hashtags. Pugs were the second most popular, followed by Chihuahuas.

Bulldogs and Labrador Retrievers were the fourth and fifth most-popular breeds.

If you own these breeds, heads up. Take advantage of this moment in time to get your message across to protect and advance your breed.
