“Jou Jou,” The First Papillon To…….

While some Papillons, by the way, arrived in the United States at the end of the 19th century, at least two arrived from Paris as a gift to Mrs. de Forest Danielson of Massachusetts from Mrs. Storr Wells in 1908. A couple of years later, Mrs. Wells bought two more females, one of whom was bred with her male, Gigi, to produce “Jou Jou.” Jou Jou, in turn, became not only the first Papillon registered with the #AKC in 1915, but also the first American bred champion.
