During our Purebred of Interest features, we always ask for breed owners to share a particular pet peeve. Regardless of the breed, one answer we can bet with certainty will appear is the irritation/fury/frustration/ felt when another dog owner doesn’t control their dog. A personal favorite for all of us? The owner who shrieks, “HE’S FRIENDLY!” as their dog careens to the end of a 15′ flex-lead without first checking if it is OK for their dog to meet ours. Grrrrrrrr, right?
We love artist, Lili Chin, in part because she is so generous in sharing illustrations in poster or brochure form that she has created to help educate others about canine body language, calming signals, and yes, space etiquette for dogs (as seen above). Because she feels our pain (she’s felt it, too), she decided to make a pocket-sized pamphlet small enough to fit in a pocket, treat bag, or poop bag. This can be handed out to other dog owners at a dog park, training class – whatever. They can trash it or read it.
You can download the instructions for the “space etiquette” pamphlet here. In return, stop by Lili’s shop, or get her new “Dogs Make The World Go Round” jigsaw puzzle (it’s epic!).
