Are you able to name this one week old puppy’s breed?
A few hints:
- Mom.Me.com named it one of its top ten healthiest breeds;
- Cave paintings of dogs resembling this breed were found in Libya dating back to 6000 BC;
- The breed is said to almost universally dislike the water;
- They are a fastidious breed, some would say “anal” about personal cleanliness;
- A young imported female gave birth to the first litter of puppies of this breed in America in 1941;
- It’s considered a primitive, or pariah breed;
- Despite its lone-wolf nature, the breed is a people-oriented dog;
- It’s used as a hunter in its native land in Central Africa where the dogs assist hunters by driving game such as antelope into nets;
- Considered barkless, the dogs do make sounds that range from a yodel or screech to a grumble or “barroos,” depending upon the situation;
We think by now you’ve named it: It’s the fabulous Basenji!
